Car air conditioning line repair system


Our avPAAS AC line repair system makes it easy to repair leaks in automotive air conditioning lines quickly and professionally.
It repairs leaks, saves time and money, resists heat and expansion, requires only standard tools and fits SAE and metric lines. It can be used to repair leaks in aluminium, copper, brass, steel and many plastic pipes.

Application example


Pipe to hose repair of a vehicle air conditioning pipe

In this application example, we show you how easy it is to repair an air conditioning line with our avPAAS AC Line Repair System.

In this example, the air conditioning line has been removed, but in many cases it is also possible to repair an installed, drained line.

Step 1

Drain & remove the air conditioning line

It is advisable to take a photo of the pipe before the repair so that it is easier to understand later how the pipe has to be assembled.

Localize the leakage

If several hoses are installed on the line, we always recommend replacing all hoses to avoid having to repair them again.

Recommended tools:

Visco20TLube assembly aid, ear hose clamp pliers, hacksaw, hose cutter, caliper gauge, wrench, files or deburring tool

Step 4

Measure the hose

To determine the exact length of the replacement hose later, look for suitable marking points on the pipe. Measure and note the distances between them.

Cut the pipe

Saw as close as possible to the press fitting with the hacksaw so that the pipe is not shortened unnecessarily. We recommend at least a 35 mm straight piece of pipe in order to be able to place the joint well. (see step 6)

Make sure that a sufficiently long and straight pipe remains so that the nut, clamping ring and connection body can be fitted and fastened correctly later.

Step 7

Deburring the pipe ends

Carefully deburr the pipe ends using files or a deburring tool. No metal shavings should remain in the pipe. If necessary, blow out the pipe with compressed air.

Fitting repair union body

Slide the nut and clamping ring onto the pipe ends. Insert the seal into the connection body. Make sure that the seal sits straight and clean on the stop that matches the diameter.

Tighten the repair union body

Place the connector sleeve on the end of the pipe and tighten the nut by hand first. Then use wrenches to tighten the thread as far as it will go.

Determine length of replacement hose

The length of the replacement hose results from the previously measured distance between the markings (step 4) minus the lengths between the markings and the respective hose stop point of the connecting bodies + the first ring of the clamp holder.

Fitting the replacement hose

Place the clamps on the cut hose using the clamp holder. Moisten the end of the connection body with Visco20TLube and push the hose with clamps and holder onto the connection body. Now crimp the clamps with the hose clamp pliers.

Check hose

Finally, check all connections again for leaks and measure again whether the distances between the markings are correct.
